How to Make Cheese Danish
  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheet as per package directions, allowing it to become flexible for easy handling.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla together in a medium-sized bowl until light and fluffy. Add in a few drops of red food coloring.
  4. Unfold the thawed puff pastry and using a 3-inch heart cookie cutter, cut out 7 hearts.
  5. Score a border around each heart using a sharp knife or smaller heart-shaped cookie cutter.
  6. Spoon about 1/2 tbsp of the cream cheese mixture onto each heart and spread it within the outlined border.
  7. Divide the diced strawberries evenly among the danishes, sprinkling them on top of the cream cheese.
  8. Mix the egg and cold water together in a small bowl to create an egg wash. Apply this wash around the outside border of the pastry.
  9. Bake for 15-17 minutes, or until the edges start to turn a golden brown.
  10. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before enjoying.
