How to Make Cheese Danish
- Thaw the puff pastry sheet according to the package directions.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Mix cream cheese, white sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium-sized bowl until light and fluffy. Add red food coloring.
- Unfold the thawed puff pastry and cut out 7 hearts using a 3-inch heart cookie cutter.
- Score a border about 1/4 inch from the edge of each heart.
- Spoon about 1/2 tablespoon of the cream cheese mixture onto each heart.
- Sprinkle the diced strawberries evenly on top of the cream cheese.
- Combine the egg and cold water in a small bowl to create an egg wash. Brush this mixture onto the outer border.
- Bake for 15-17 minutes, until the edges turn golden brown.
- Cool on the pan for about 5 minutes before serving.
