Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 1.75 cups warm water helps activate the yeast for a fluffy rise
  • 2.25 teaspoons active dry yeast essential for that classic homemade fluffy texture
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar feeds the yeast, enhancing the dough's flavor
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt balances the taste and strengthens the dough
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil adds richness and helps create a beautiful crust
  • 3.5 cups all-purpose flour ensures the crust is sturdy yet soft

Equipment

  • stand mixer

Method

Directions
  1. In a stand mixer bowl, start by combining the warm water, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes bubbly and frothy.
  2. After the yeast mixture has bubbled, add in 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and the all-purpose flour. Mix on low speed using a dough attachment until everything is just combined.
  3. Continue kneading the dough on low speed for approximately 5 minutes until it feels slightly sticky and forms a soft, pliable consistency.
  4. Take another 2 tablespoons of olive oil to coat the dough, ensuring it’s fully covered.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and a clean towel, then set it in a warm spot for about 2 hours.
  6. As the dough rises, preheat your oven to 475°F.
  7. Once risen, gently press the dough to deflate it, then divide it evenly in half.
  8. Place one half onto a round baking pan. Use your fingers to flatten it into a 12-inch disk.
  9. Load up your shaped dough with pizza sauce, cheese, and your favorite toppings. Bake it in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Let your pizza rest for 5 minutes after baking. Cut it into 8 slices and share.
