Method
 

How to Make
  1. Layer ingredients in the slow cooker starting with sliced yellow onions and 3 tablespoons of salted butter. Lay the chicken on top and season.
  2. Pour in dry white wine and chicken broth, sprinkle in sliced mushrooms. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or high for 1-2 hours.
  3. Preheat the broiler.
  4. Remove chicken and most of the onions. Transfer to a baking sheet.
  5. Turn the slow cooker to high, add dry orzo and 1 cup of water. Cover and cook for 20-30 minutes.
  6. Add heavy cream and grated parmesan cheese.
  7. Top the onions with remaining butter and gruyere cheese, broil for 3-5 minutes.
  8. Serve the orzo topped with chicken and onions.
