  • 8 pieces slider buns whole-wheat for a healthier twist
  • 3 pounds pork shoulder substitute with chicken or jackfruit for a lighter option
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese Gouda can be a substitute
  • 1 cup dill pickles bread-and-butter pickles can be used instead
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard Dijon mustard can be used for a sophisticated touch
For the Butter Mixture
  • 1/2 cup butter olive oil can be a lighter option
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder fresh minced garlic can be a substitute

Method
 

How to Make Cuban Sliders
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Season the pork shoulder with salt and pepper. Place it in a slow cooker with a splash of water and cook on low for about 8 hours.
  3. Shred the cooked pork using two forks, while slicing the slider buns in half horizontally and smothering each bottom half with yellow mustard.
  4. Layer the shredded pork on the buns, followed by Swiss cheese slices and dill pickles. Replace the top buns.
  5. Mix melted butter with garlic powder and brush over the assembled sliders.
  6. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for another 10 minutes.
