Method
Making the Dough
- Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture and olive oil, stirring until a dough forms.
- Place the dough on a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Put the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm spot.
Baking the Pizza
- Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Place a pizza stone inside if using.
- Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick and transfer to a hot baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Brush olive oil on the dough, spread pizza sauce, sprinkle mozzarella cheese and add desired toppings.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbling.
