How to Make Sausage Baked Brie
  1. Preheat the oven by following the puff pastry package instructions, ensuring it’s hot and ready for that delightful bake.
  2. Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat. Stir occasionally until browned, which should take about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat to keep it from becoming greasy.
  3. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes, until the onion is translucent and fragrant.
  4. Stir in the fresh thyme and fig jam (if using) into the sausage mixture and mix well.
  5. Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, creating a nice square.
  6. Layer half of the Brie cheese on the center of the pastry, then top with the sausage mixture, and place the remaining Brie on top.
  7. Fold the pastry over the cheese and sausage, sealing the edges tightly so no filling escapes.
  8. Brush the top with the beaten egg to achieve a golden finish once baked.
  9. Bake according to the puff pastry package instructions, usually around 20-25 minutes, until it turns golden brown.
